Five beautiful mugs to enhance your love for coffee while keeping in touch with your aesthetic side
I buy things by instinct. It is always those small, fairly regular objects, that catch my attention and at that moment I know you have to get it. I think that’s what they mean when they say ‘love at first sight’.
For me it was the Summer Blossom mug by Maxwell Williams - ever since I saw it, I was in love. Being a staunch follower of delayed gratification, I walked past the store eyeing the mug every time we went to the mall. Finally, I treated myself to it at Christmas last year, only to have it break within two months !
I mustered the heart to go buy another one only to find out that my coffee mug had discontinued! I looked up eBay and found one in UK being sold for three times the price AND BOUGHT IT. Yes, the things we do for love.
This rather expensive heartache prompted me look for other coffee mugs that would make me as happy as this mug. Stocked by House here in Australia here are my top five favourites, do you see a theme?
The use of colours against the porcelain makes this mug stand out. The detailing with the blue against a clean white is soothing with a touch of elegance, great way to start your day.
The simple, yet intricate embossing on this mug cuts through the plainness one would associate with Bone China. It is a piece to cherish freshly brewed coffee on a lazy morning, by feeling the warmth of coffee through the mug’s intricate embossing.
The clever use of white space with the texture is what makes this mug special to me. Though, it is made for coffee, I wouldn’t shy from having some delicious hot chocolate in it either.
Perfect for a pick-me-up cup of coffee, this mug has stunning pattern inspired by nature. A great way to connect with art and coffee in the morning or for the afternoon pick-me-up.
The hydrangea painted on this mug make it the very definition of pretty. It is meant to enjoy that calming cup of coffee we need at end of a long day.
